This fun evening of good food, drinks and great baskets up for auction will be held Friday, October 1, 2010 at Washtenaw Community College, Morris Lawrence Building. Trips to Costa Rica, Africa, New York City and Cancun are just a small sample of many wonderful items up for auction. Join us at this special event October 1 to support Washtenaw Literacy -- a dynamic nonprofit that has successfully been teaching adults to read and write basic English and speak English as a second language for almost 40 years. Get to Know the Honorary Hosts of World in a Basket

News anchor Devin Scillian and his wife Corey Scillian will lend their talents to Washtenaw Literacy as Honorary Hosts of the 2010 World in a Basket gala auction on the first of October. Most of us know Devin as the familiar face on Detroit's top newscast, Local First News on WDIV-TV.
 But his resume doesn't stop at winning Emmys and traveling the world to bring the news to southeastern Michigan. He is also an award-winning country musician, having released two albums and garnered a Detroit Music Award.

If that weren't enough, Devin is the author of popular children's books, several of which he authored with his wife Corey. Titles like "A is for America" and "P is for Passport" reveal the Scillians' passion for education and global unity, two ideals of adult literacy.
